The communities in which we operate are also very important to us; we believe any business has an absolute responsibility to put into a community more than it takes out. With this in mind, we are frequent supporters of local and grassroots sport, charity fundraising campaigns and events, supporting local education and providing employment opportunities through apprenticeships.

We have a low staff turnover and excellent continuity among our staff, which we feel helps to deliver a consistently high-standard customer experience. Our staff are encouraged to take up professional training programmes, to both increase their own personal development and job satisfaction, and also the level of service they’re able to offer our customers.
As well as looking after our staff’s learning, we look after their well-being; all of our engineers and contractors are SafeContractor and CHAS certified to ensure that they perform on-site operations in line with recognised standards, for their own safety and that of our customers.
We have also run a successful apprenticeship and NVQ programmes alongside each other for a number of years, allowing the next generation of workers to earn money while they are learning a trade, and offering them genuine opportunity for progression.
United Carlton has been accredited by the Living Wage Foundation – one of around 2,200 employers nationwide to be recognised by the Foundation.
We believe that fair compensation will lead to increased job satisfaction in our workers, and a higher level of service experienced by our customers.
These two fantastic charities have succeeded in improving the quality of life of thousands of disabled children and adults throughout the North East. We have also supported a number of initiatives to help various schools, community sports clubs, charitable organisations and homeless people in our community, as well as supporting the charitable endeavours of our staff in their own time.
Each year we host a golf day in aid of a chosen charity, which has raised several thousand pounds to support the endeavours of the Alan Shearer Foundation, Sunderland Foundation of Light and Changing Lives.
We recycle around 10 tonnes of cardboard per year, and repurpose, refurbish or recycle (to WEEE-compliant standards) any obsolete devices, consumables or parts, in partnership with leading environmental services provider eReco.
We also offer our customers a simple, safe and cost-effective service for the collection and recycling of their spent toner cartridges.
As an eco-friendly, ISO14001 accredited company, our environmental commitment expands to everyone we work with, from suppliers to customers.
We regularly evaluate our business processes to monitor our carbon production, waste recycling and energy and water usages.
We only work with, and supply equipment and solutions from, suppliers who have demonstrated a committed approach to green manufacturing and operating procedures. This includes the use of eco-friendly packaging, carbon-neutral manufacture, low energy consumption operation and responsible recycling schemes.
We’re a committed sponsor of one of the North East region’s main sporting Durham County Cricket Club .
The club shares our community-centric values, and use their status in the region to help enhance the lives of thousands of people.
